March Thaw
Look, by my boot, where the roof drops furrow the snow, a bee, fresh from the dripping eaves, unfolds.
Comments:
I really like this one--the moment is vivid and surprising. A question, though. How does the speaker know the bee has "dripped from/ the eaves" if he has only just discovered it on the ground?
I realize that we can infer that the speaker, after seeing the bee, looked up and saw where the bee must have come from, but the poem is so "in the moment" that the inference is jarring. Not sure what, if anything, to do about that. jd
author's note: I have posted an ammended version (the original appears below).

What is this unfolding in the snow by my boot? A bee just waked up and dripped from the eaves. << Home This blog features my original poetry and is a companion site to www.cinquain.org.
