Smoker

Beneath
her new silk blouse,
past the cotton fibers
of her bra and freckled skin, lung
cancer.


Comments:
this is a strong poem, on that relies on enjambed lines to enforce the suspense. I also am struck by how the poem reads as a kind of striptease with a disturbing twist at the end.
I like the title, but I'm not sure everyone will.
